“People don’t buy what you do; they buy why you do it. Start with your WHY” — Simon Sinek
I’ve always loved that quote. Simon Sinek, one of my favorite authors, reminds us that clarity of purpose isn’t just good branding, it’s soul work. And for me, this season of reflection, writing, and launching mPath Services has been just that: a long-overdue uncovering of my why.
Btw, this is what I wrote on the first day of mPath Services, exactly 45 days ago: take a look.
When Did We Stop Paying Attention?
What happens when you stop chasing and start paying attention? In a world full of noise, noticing might just be the most radical act.
It’s Friday.
The kind of day we mentally bookmark as a pause — a bridge between the week’s rush and the weekend’s relief. But lately, I’ve been asking myself: are we pausing enough? Or are we just scrolling past everything, one thumb-swipe at a time?
That thought has been lingering since the start of this year. Through my (AWC) April Writing Challenge, to digital decluttering and tornado warnings, from country flags in my blog stats to what it means to live 24×7 until 2047. Each post — like tiny breadcrumbs — has been leading me back to one truth: noticing matters.
And yet… we keep moving. Sometimes too fast.
We get news of war and catastrophe and within seconds, we double tap, maybe repost, and then shift back to emails and errands. We ask, “How are you?” but rarely stay around long enough to really listen.
We’ve become masters at momentum. But at what cost?
Here’s where I smile — because if you ask people who know me, including my life partner, they’ll tell you:
I feel a lot. Often followed by a gentle eyeroll and something like, “There he goes again, Mr. Empathy.”
But you know what? It’s true.
Over the years, I’ve realized that this soft center of mine isn’t a distraction — it’s a compass. It’s how mPath Services came to be. It’s what this season of writing and reflection is rooted in. It’s not about being mushy; it’s about finally making space to feel what really matters — and helping others do the same.
We Don’t Need to Save the World… But We Do Need to Notice It
None of us can hold it all. But we can hold space. For a friend. For a stranger. For ourselves. This isn’t about being overly sensitive or dramatic — it’s about staying human in a world that’s moving faster than ever.
And maybe that’s what Friday is for — not just to crash or celebrate, but to consciously close the week. To ask:
- What did I miss?
- Who might need to hear from me?
- What moment passed by too quickly?
Your Turn
What’s one thing you almost ignored this week but now realize deserves a little more attention?
Pause. Reflect. Then, if you’re up for it — share. In the comments. In a message. Or in your own Friday ritual.
Let’s keep noticing. Let’s keep being awake.
Enjoy your Memorial Day Weekend, everyone!
