Are we choosing our words… or are the tools choosing them for us?
Have caught yourself using a phrase you definitely didn’t grow up with — but somehow picked up online without noticing?
Social media trains us to sound louder – rewards exaggeration.
AI nudges us to sound cleaner – rewards clarity.
And somewhere in between, our natural voice can quietly disappear.
I’m not anti-tech. I use it daily. I’m not unplugging. I’m just paying attention.
Platforms reward certain words.
Algorithms repeat them.
And suddenly they feel natural.
AI didn’t just learn how we speak.
We’re learning how it speaks.
But I’m learning to pause and ask: Is this how I actually speak?
Because sounding human still matters. Maybe more than ever.
Awareness is the new advantage.
PS: My professional take on this topic is on my business website (mPath Services). Check out the blog article named: Are We Cooked? 😉 It has supporting visuals and analysis to understand how language is changing rapidly in front of our eyes, and my forward-looking conclusion.
