…and the Emotional Intelligence They Didn’t Expect.

Some posts write themselves. This one? took me a while. Hear me out.

This is about professional digital window-watchers, the ones who stop by your LinkedIn profile often but never say hello. They read, they (probably) ponder but No likes. No comments. No messages. Just… lurking.

One such visitor has been making rounds on my profile like clockwork. An ex-colleague, no names, no drama — just a familiar breadcrumb trail showing up in my “Who’s Viewed Your Profile” section more often than not.

At first, I laughed. Then I got curious.
What makes someone keep peeking in like that?

Look, I’m not here to spill any workplace tea. But in this age of endless notifications and digital footprints, let’s not pretend we do not notice. Especially when the same footsteps keep showing up again and again. I do think there’s a very human truth behind these digital glances.

• Maybe it’s professional curiosity. But if it’s that, why not interact?
• Maybe it’s just LinkedIn’s version of “pocket dialing.” This is me being overly nice. Nah! that’s not the reason. 😊
• Or maybe it is quiet competitiveness dressed up as admiration. Thats more like it. 😁

Whatever the reason, here’s what it reminded me:

Even in the age of AI, emotional awareness is a leadership edge.
Noticing who’s watching and how they’re watching is information, even if they think you won’t.

You don’t need to confront the lurker. Just observe, adjust your posture, and carry on. Smile and keep doing your thing.

Sometimes the past peeks in to remind you how far you’ve come. That’s your cue to keep moving forward, not look back.
