Incognito Love 💕

2–3 minutes

So, here I am, in my little corner of the internet, weaving words and sharing insights with the world. But amidst all the hustle and bustle of blogging life, I’ve stumbled upon a curious conundrum, figuring out my well-wishers who are leaving me anonymous comments.

It’s not their fault. On the contrary, I think it’s mine. WordPress provides commenting functionality below your posts that I have kept ON, but as someone with a background in usability engineering would understand there is a delicate dance between user convenience and data privacy.

Making it easy for readers to drop a comment without jumping through hoops is key.

So, for my blog posts no name, email, or WordPress login is required. Type your response and BAM! you are done. Easy-peasy, lemon- squeezy, as I often say it.

But there is a downside. This way, I’m left in the dark. Completely in the pitch-dark place, btw.

Who’s behind those heartfelt words of praise? Who’s taking time from the fast and furious life to leave me their kind and encouraging thoughts? Sherlock Holmes would have a field day finding that out.

In the land of anonymity, every comment is a surprise waiting to be unwrapped. It’s like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get. 😊 Will it be a fan? A fellow blogger? Or perhaps a rogue AI bot 🤖?

Love xoxo

But you know what? I’ve come to embrace the mystery. Each anonymous comment is like a tiny love letter from the digital ether, warming my heart and igniting my curiosity. Sure, I may not know who’s behind that comment, but the sentiment? It’s as genuine as it gets.

So, as I sit down to craft my responses, I do so with a smile, knowing that somewhere out there, someone is cheering me on, even if they are incognito.

After all, in the grand scheme of things, what’s in a name? It’s the words that matter – the ones that make me laugh, think, and feel appreciated.

Shakespeare pondered that question centuries ago, and here you are, living it in the digital age.

On a similar topic of love, Valentines Day is Wednesday next week. (Feb-14) It’s Superbowl Sunday this week (Feb-11) and the entire America will be “in-the-love” of Football only to wake up the next day either elated or deflated to start thinking about another love to keep the love-train going! Cognito or Incognito, what matters in the end is the feeling it ignites.

So, here’s to you, my mysterious commenters of the internet. You may be elusive, but your kindness shines bright in the digital darkness. Keep those love notes coming, and I’ll keep on blogging, grateful for each and every anonymous word of encouragement.

Let’s see how many comments I gather on this post. I will appreciate your love (aka comments) in whatever format you are willing to share. 😍

Happy Superbowl Sunday, and Valentines Day, everyone!

  1. Wishing you every success, from your friends in the frozen north, Alan and Carolyn. Actually not so frozen, it’s 45F outside and getting warmer.
